Saskatchewan earns bronze medal, fifth-place finish at 2023 Futsal Canadian Championship

Saskatchewan’s SK Impact women’s team earned a bronze medal at the inaugural women’s competition at the 2023 Futsal Canadian Championship in Calgary, AB. The SK Impact women defeated British Columbia 9:1 in the bronze medal match. In the men’s competition, Olimpia SK FC competed in their fourth Futsal Canadian Championship finishing in fifth place after defeating Yukon in the fifth-place match.

Olimpia SK FC opened with a hard-fought last minute 3:4 defeat to Ontario in their opening match. A 0:3 defeat to Alberta, and a 10:2 victory over Nunavut landed the team in the fifth-place match.

Saskatoon’s Erica Hindmarsh scored the women’s Futsal Canadian Championship’s first-ever goal in a 6:1 victory over Alberta in the opening match. The team followed that with a difficult 0:6 loss to Quebec before defeating Manitoba 12:0 to earn their place in the bronze medal match.
