Rural Referee Initiatives
Entry Level Clinics
Basic Training to get everyone started on their career and referee pathway
Refresher Clinics
Instructors are available to come to your referees to provide education on updated Laws of the Game, continued education on some of the more confusing rules and a general refresher on what it takes to be a referee.
SSA Referee Mentors
Pending availability, SSA Mentors may be able to come out to a tournament or Club Day and provide in game mentorship to referees allowing for growth, development, and refinement. Additional costs may be inquired by the Member Organization.
Referee Development Leads
SSA suggests that MOs create the position of a Referee Development Lead. Referee Development Leads are welcome to attend the SSA Rural Referee Candidates sessions in order to obtain up to date education and information. Referee Development Leads are able to bring the information back to their home environment and further educate their local referees.
Rural Referee Candidates Program
Rural Referees who show strong interest in furthering their career as a referee are welcome to join the Rural Referees Candidates Program. This is a first step towards receiving further education. Based on commitment and interest, participants can move towards the Candidates Program or towards a support/mentorship/instructing role within the local Member Organization first and later, provincially, at the level. The Rural Candidates Program is open for interested, committed and dedicated match officials who wish to improve their game performances. Candidates Program
Referees who show strong interest in furthering their career as a referee are welcome to join the Candidates Program. If a referee wants to journey down the Referee Pathway it is highly encouraged they join the Candidates Program. The Candidates Program exists to help referees achieve Regional and Provincial Status.
