April 9, 2020 - SSA Member Update

Apr. 09, 2020

April 9, 2020

To: All SSA Member Organizations

BE SAFE! BE THE SOLUTION!

Saskatchewan Soccer and all member organizations continue to adhere to the Canada Soccer Suspension of all Sanctioned Soccer Activity and the Government of Saskatchewan Public Health Order issued on April 4, 2020 which states that indoor and outdoor gatherings of 10 people or more are prohibited.

While the suspension of activity is in place, we encourage everyone to focus on staying safe and maintaining physical distancing.

While this is occurring we invite you to stay engaged as we continue to explore multiple options for return to play when it is safe to do so.  We ask all members to align efforts, locally and provincially and, as stated recently by provincial medical authorities, remember that we are all in this together and we ask for your help.  To that end:

We invite All MEMBER ORGANIZATIONS to REGISTER AND PARTICIPATE on our call on APRIL 14 at 8:00p.m. Registration link.

Many organizations are considering announcing cancelations but we request that you join the call before making those decisions.

As discussed in previous communications, soccer and other sport and recreational activities will be important health promoting activities that will help us return to our normal routines.  We continue to encourage registration, without requiring payment, so that we can resume play as quickly as possible.  And we encourage Member Organizations to contact their local community officials for any stipulations put in place for sports field and facility bookings. Let's work together!

SSA continues to meet regularly with Canada Soccer to consider options and share resources. These resources are informing our work and we are passing on those that are relevant on to our members.

Our focus for the April 14th remains on return to play options, however, in light of recent announcements both federally and provincially we need to have realistic discussions about those options. Canada Soccer's Director of Development, Jason de Vos, will provide an update from a national perspective and also talk about future options for Coach and Referee education that are in the works.

We invite your input during this important call so that we may consider local and provincial realities that will impact our collective decision making.

8 Ways to Return to Play This Year.

MAP Grant Update
We have received several questions about this year's MAP Grant, such as requests for additional clarity on what will be considered eligible ongoing administrative expenses, how MAP eligibility will be impacted this year if Member Organizations choose to cancel outdoor seasons (should the indefinite suspension on soccer be lifted in time to hold an outdoor season), and how MAP eligibility will be impacted in 2020 if Member Organizations choose to cancel this year's outdoor season. We are still in consultation with Sask Sport to develop appropriate answers. We will discuss these questions on next week's MAP Application webinars (Wednesday, April 15 @ 8 pm or Thursday, April 16 @ 12 pm), so we encourage you to register and attend.

BE SAFE! BE THE SOLUTION!
As a reminder, please continue to take care of yourself, your families, and others.

Wash your hands frequently (it is the single most effective way of reducing infection spread).
Practice other good hygiene habits: do not touch your face/eyes/mouth with your hands and cover your mouth and nose when you sneeze or cough (ideally with a disposable tissue or the crease of your elbow).
Clean and disinfect frequently touched workspace surfaces.
Maintain good general health (eat a balanced diet, get enough sleep, and move in moderation).
Stay home if you are sick
