May 28 - Member Update

May. 28, 2021

Return to Soccer

Games are back (for outdoor)!

We are sure you are all aware of the exciting news we received this week when outdoor sport was added to Step One of the Government’s Reopening Roadmap.

The Return to Soccer Plan was recently updated as per our release on Wednesday to include information on outdoor games (pg. 15-16). Please ensure you review the new guidelines and let us know if you have any questions.

We have received many questions regarding in province travel and how far is acceptable.  We ask your organization to use your discretion on how often and far you travel to play - there is a difference between travelling to a neighbouring town to have enough competition within a league than across the province to play exhibition games.  We want to ensure we are keeping all participants and sport safe, and we also want to ensure that sport can progress to the next step of the Reopening Roadmap without delay.  If you feel your organization is not ready and that an exhibition game is too far away - you are probably right.  In a few more weeks we will see reduced restrictions and the time for travelling will come.  Remember, no tournaments or inter-provincial travel are allowed.

Indoor Sport guidelines remain unchanged (contactless training in groups of 8) and are scheduled to be lifted in Step 2 of the Roadmap (current guidelines on pg. 14).

Last week we launched the 50/50 Province-wide fundraiser, and the first ever jack pot was $10,240!

The winning ticket number was 4864 and a prize of $5,120 was won by Kevin Barbero from Regina! Congratulations to Weyburn Soccer Association who was the organization with highest amount of “in support of” selections, with $2,040 worth of tickets being purchased!

We would like to thank everyone for their support in drawing attention to the campaign to make the first week of the Fundraiser a huge success! Let’s continue to keep advertising and keep this momentum up to raise as much funds as possible for soccer in Saskatchewan!

During last week’s draw we were able to “Boost” our post through Facebook to gain significantly higher views and direct more people to the draw. This week we have not been able to boost the post and we been advised by Facebook that we need approval to promote gaming. The review can take up to 2 weeks. This means we will have a significantly smaller reach for this week’s draw. Please Share, Like, and Comment on our posts often to ensure the message is being shared to as many people as possible until we are able to boost our posts again.

The next draw will be completed on Tuesday, June 1st at 2pm and the winner will be announced via Facebook.

As a reminder, please continue to take care of yourself, your families, and others.
Wash your hands frequently (it is the single most effective way of reducing infection spread).
Practice other good hygiene habits: do not touch your face/eyes/mouth with your hands and cover your mouth and nose when you sneeze or cough (ideally with a disposable tissue or the crease of your elbow).
Clean and disinfect frequently touched workspace surfaces.
Maintain good general health (eat a balanced diet, get enough sleep, and move in moderation).
Stay home if you are sick

Our sport is underway during the pandemic. It's a challenging time, but support from our partners allows us to offer opportunities for kids to play. We acknowledge the financial support of the Government of Canada. Nous reconnaissons l'appui financier du gouvernement du Canada.
